The FieldSpec® Dual collection software system leverages the value and utility of the world’s most trusted line of portable field spectrometers. The software intercalibrates and wirelessly synchronizes two ASD FieldSpec spectroradiometers to collect near simultaneous white reference and sample target radiance spectra. The system virtually eliminates errors associated with time varying atmospheric conditions, one of the biggest challenges to collecting accurate field spectra.
Stop waiting for “ideal” weather to get your fieldwork done.
The FieldSpec Dual collection software system offers a radical shift in the workflow paradigm of traditional field spectral measurements.
The dynamic nature of atmospheric environments pose one of the greatest obstacles to the accuracy of field collected reflectance measurements. It’s important to understand that a target’s reflectance spectrum is derived by ratioing two radiance measurements; one from the target and one from a white reference panel. Illumination consistency between the two measurements is critical for the derivation of an error-free reflectance spectrum.
Traditionally the frequency, timing and consistency of the reference measurement were a subjective and manual process. To minimize the impacts of atmospheric variability data collection was limited to those days with ideal weather conditions: cloud free, stable, and low humidity.
FieldSpec Dual collection software automates and synchronizes white reference and target radiance measurements, eliminating the need for manual white reference measurements and opening your collection window into what were once marginal stand-by days.
System Requirements
Compatible instruments include all FieldSpec 4’s and FieldSpec 3’s serial number 16178 and higher. FieldSpec Dual system configuration requires at least one FieldSpec 4. Spectroradiometers must be of the same spectral resolution.
Instrument Controller Requirements
The minimum requirements for the instrument controller are:
Required accessories
Dual Reference Mount and a Wave Length Calibration Puck. To ensure accuracy and a convenient, efficient workflow ASD recommends factory re-calibration of existing instruments FieldSpec Dual Instrument Calibration, Tripod, Heavy Duty, and Tripod Instrument Hook• Raw material and active ingredient testing for dietary supplements and natural products.
• Analyzing wood and fiber properties including lignin, cellulose and hemicellulose.
• Lipid, protein and fatty acid analysis of biofuels, grains and food products.
• Analyzing mineral content in soils.
Indico Pro seamlessly bridges the spectral information about a sample collected using an ASD instrument with several popular chemometric software packages including GRAMS Suite by Thermo Scientific and The Unscrambler®by Camo Software. Also included is ASD’s user friendly Rapid Classifier application for material qualification. The complete package allows for:
• Fast and easy data acquisitionThe remote sensing data acquisition and analysis software is engineered for use with ASD spectroradiometers, with the added benefits of Ethernet and wireless functionality. RS3™ has Windows® friendly advanced features, which include GPS compatibility, settings recollection upon start-up and shut-down and easy-to-navigate menus that facilitate simple and convenient data collection for applications such as:
• Atmospheric research
• Forestry, ecology and plant physiology studies
• Light energy measurements
•Spectroradiometric calibrations
ASD′s RS3 Windows-compatible user interface software can be used for data collection, averaging, storage and display of DN, reflectance, radiance or irradiance spectra in real-time and spectrum area.Additional capabilities such as PPFD (Photosynthetic Photon Flux Density) and quantum intensity (QI) in post processing, are optional radiometric calibrations required for radiance and irradiance. PPFD and QI are sold separately.
To assure and maintain the most accurate data collection,RS3 saves the displayed spectrum, not the current collected spectrum so the user′s final results will represent the most accurate data
Some additional features and benefits of the RS3 software include:
•Ethernet, wireless and GPS compatibility
•View up to five previous spectral scans while simultaneously collecting new spectra
•Includes ViewSpec™ Pro* post-processing software
•Reports saturation without interfering with workflow
•Records both the reference and sample scan in a single file when collecting reflectance or transmission, which means the raw sample and reference scans can always be recovered, allowing for later processing or data correction
Thermo Scientific provides a suite of comprehensive spectroscopy software for data processing, visualization, prediction and reporting. Grams/AI, part of the suite, is an advanced software tool for processing routines, data comparison and visualization features and its ability to handle data from virtually any analytical instrument have set the industry standard in scientific software.
