Homepage» System » Satellite Imageries » KOMPSAT-3A

The major goal of the KOMPSAT-3A program is to develop an earth observation satellite to obtain IR (Infrared) and high resolution EO (Electro-Optical) images for GIS (Geographical Information Systems) applications in environmental, agricultural and oceanographic sciences as well as natural disasters.

In addition, The KOMPSAT-3A program is devoted to industrialization of the bus system development by the domestic companies. It was launched on 25th of May,2015. The mission orbit is a sun-synchronous orbit at an altitude of 530 km during 4 years.

Mission objectives:

• Data continuation after KOMPSAT-3
• Provision of the high-resolution EO (Electro-Optical) images
• Provision of IR (Infrared) images

Payload: AEISS-A

• Identical with KOMPSAT-3 for visible
• Additional IR band

Orbit

• 528 km altitude
• Better GSD than KOMPSAT-3
