J-ERS

J-ERS 1 (Japanese Earth Resources Satellite)

J-ERS 1 is an Earth observing satellite that is used for national land management, forestry, fishery, environmental protection, disaster management, coastal monitoring studies. J-ERS 1 has been launched by NASDA on the date of 11 Feb. 1992. The satellite has become malfunction in 1999.

J-ERS 1 has the altitude of 568km. on solar syncronous orbit with 44 days revisit time.

J-ERS 1 has both high performance SAR Sensor and Optical Sensor (OPS) on board.

SAR active sensor has ability to image in any weather condition due to the active sensor.
OPS can observe from visible to SWIR band through 7 bands. Besides, it has stereoscopic ability to determine stones, rocks and minerals.
